Tragedy Strikes as Fisherman Drowns in Ordu

Cevizdere Mahallesi, on the shore, where Erkan Kartal (37), a father of three, went fishing with his family. While fishing in Cevizdere, Erkan Kartal got stuck in the mud while crossing the river from one side to the other and started to sink. After a while, Erkan Kartal, who disappeared from sight in the sea, could not be seen by his family and the people around, so they informed the health, fire brigade, and gendarmerie teams. Ordu Metropolitan Municipality Ünye Fire Brigade Group Directorate teams, who arrived at the scene shortly, pulled the lifeless body of the young man out of the sea. Despite all the interventions made at Ünye State Hospital after the initial treatment by the health teams, Erkan Kartal could not be saved and passed away.

Erkan Kartal, a father of three who is loved for his passion for nature and fishing, shared a photo taken in winter on social media the day before his death, expressing his longing for snipe hunting, stating “Will Our Lifetime Be Enough to Reunite with My Dark-Eyed One.”
